Being away from my home and family caused depression, which lead to an almost 100 pound weight gain. It took me almost a decade, and gaining and losing that 100 pounds twice, to take charge of my health and fitness life. I became a certified personal trainer in 2014 and have been Blessed to start my career at the Armbrust YMCA in helping others take control of their health, fitness, and overall well being. There are many factors to consider when beginning your health and fitness journey, and it is my joy, and passion to guide you along the way! When I’m not at the Y helping others, I am married to the man I moved here over 20 years ago for, with two teenagers, and two Pitbull fur babies that keep me plenty busy!

After struggling mentally and with my own personal health I decided to dive into the world of fitness. Over time I grew to love weight training and the different techniques you can use to transform not only your body but your mental well-being. I want my clients to value their own self-worth and celebrate every achievement they make in the wellness center no matter how small. I enjoy teaching the youth at the YMCA about proper weight training techniques and how to view exercise as an enjoyment and not a chore. It's very important to me that young children learn to love fitness at all stages and really see that it can make a difference about how they view themselves and their own health. If I can improve my client’s self-efficacy and self-confidence even by just a little, I feel I have made a difference.
Certifications: NASM Certified Personal Trainer NASM Corrective Exercise Focus: Instructing members on proper lifting techniques, proper nutrition and hydration needs, as well as providing instruction to strength training, HIIT, barbell/free weights, injury and prevention and recovery. I have experience with various conditions including ACL tears, muscle sprains and tears, osteoporosis, diabetes, L4/L5 herniation, cancer (current and remission), knee replacement recovery, and severe vertigo. I’ve helped members train for and pass the Army and Air Force fitness tests, as well as the fire fighter fitness test (CPAT). Personal Bio: I’m a retired U.S. Air Force Navigator and Electronic Warfare Officer/Tactical Coordinator with just over elven and a half years of service. In my spare time when I’m not strength training, I love spending time with my wife and 2-year-old daughter Emma, who loves going to the zoo to see the Lemurs! I go fishing when I can and I have a wonderful time making scale model aircrafts. Especially WWII and Vietnam era planes. I am now expanding my hobby to include model wood ships. It keeps me busy!

My fitness journey started in 2018 when I was 20 years old and in college. I was involved in high school sports but had always been overweight and constantly struggled to try and lose weight. When I started college, I ended up gaining over 50lbs which led me to my highest weight of 250lbs, mainly due to not being active and living an unhealthy lifestyle. I was struggling with depression and anxiety and was on a downward spiral I felt I had no control over. It took me realizing that I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life being unhappy and hating the person I saw in the mirror to take control of my life and make the changes that needed to happen. Over the last 2.5 years, I have managed to lose 85lbs through weight-training, nutrition, a whole lot of determination, and patience, and have fallen in love with everything fitness. It has been as much a physical journey as it has been a mental health journey. My personal experience sparked my passion to help others who may be struggling with things similar to what I have struggled with and guide them to living a happier and healthier lifestyle. As women we can be strong and beautiful, and taking care of ourselves sometimes becomes our last priority after we become parents. My passion for fitness and nutrition and understanding the correlation between what we eat and how we move is key to having a successful journey. I took a risk and got my first group ex certification with P90X and after that I was hooked! I began getting other certifications and decided to pursue a national certification as a Personal Trainer. I enjoy helping others every day through personal training and group exercise classes. There is nothing better than sharing your knowledge to help others become a better version of themselves.
