Bringing over 20 years of injury prevention and recovery experience to Bellingham.
I have extensive experience working with athletes, including the United States Women’s National soccer team and the dancers for the Pacific Northwest Ballet. Much of my career I worked with ‘athletes of life’ in many stages of their development at the Seattle Athletic Club and a local chiropractor clinic.
My work is influenced by the tensegrity theory of fascia and muscle in the body. Everything is interconnected and while focusing on one spot can be great, I believe targeting the areas above and below is also crucial to the body’s health and performance. I like the team approach at Prime and how local everything feels. I love the full Sports Medicine Team concept of the clinic for the everyday athlete, which is usually reserved for only high-level athletes. I played and now coach lacrosse at WWU. I love hearing how clients’ aches and pains seem to just melt away and that they feel confident in carrying on in their daily lives and achieving their health/performance goals. I’m currently the Defensive Coordinator for WWU’s Men’s Club Lacrosse team. I love to play lacrosse, go golfing, fishing, kayaking, and skating when it’s dry enough. One of my current obsessions is tennis and I’m getting lessons from my wife who coaches high school tennis. When I’m not being active, I like playing video games, lounging around the house, cooking awesome food, and hanging out with my dogs.
Why do you like being part of Prime? I’m impressed by the community involvement. I want to contribute to the community and being part of Prime makes it easier, and more fun to do so. Being part of a team where I can learn, and contribute to helping people get back to what they want to do is important to me. Words to describe my philosophy are Trigger "Point Thai" and "Individualization." Through the yoga-like movement in Thai Massage, imbalances, inflexibilities, and sticking points become clear. With a mix of Thai, trigger point release, and deep tissue sports massage, I can help you improve flexibility, range of motion, and circulation and work out those new or long-standing pain points.
What is Thai massage? Prime is excited to add Thai massage to our other services to help you achieve your goals for a healthy active lifestyle and improved mobility. Thai massage is done on a cushioned mat on the floor and clothes are left on for a Thai massage. It's important to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that is easy to move in. With other forms of massage, you typically remove all or most of your clothing. Thai massage practitioners move your limbs around to stretch joints and gently massage key areas. Thai massage combines compression, acupressure, and passive stretching. These increase the range of motion in your joints and muscles. This can also improve your posture. Travis is a licensed massage therapist also trained in Thai Massage. The Benefits of Thai Massage: Increased range of motion, reduced muscle tension in shoulders, neck, hips, hamstrings, and back.
