Dr. Juli Mazi is a licensed naturopathic and primary care doctor whose aim and passion is to empower her patients to heal. She helps people of all ages to achieve an optimal and vibrant state of well being. Her positive outlook inspires confidence; her calmness and wisdom puts people at immediate ease. She truly listens to her patients and empowers them to become active participants in their own healing. At a very early age, Dr. Mazi felt called to be a healer and a teacher. Her spirit of investigation came alive when she discovered her strong connection to the plant world. Fascinated by nutrition and the medicinal qualities of food and herbs, she experimented with various diets, and searched out exotic fruits and vegetables, to discover their effects for herself. Dr. Mazi is a natural teacher and healer and she inspires that spark of vitality in those whose lives she touches. Before embarking on her naturopathic studies, Dr. Mazi earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Communications Studies with an emphasis in Conflict Resolution, and taught classes in Non-Violent Communication at Portland State University. Her skills and training in interpersonal communication define her signature approach, which is to use the power of compassionate inquiry to guide each patient to discover what their best options are for healing. Dr. Mazi received her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon where she trained in the advanced medical sciences as well as ancient and modern modalities that rely on the restorative power of Nature to heal. She is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the California Naturopathic Doctor Association. Dr. Irene J. Valencia is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor and primary care provider, specializing in family medicine. In addition to managing acute and chronic disease in patients of all ages, Dr. Valencia is versed in hormone balancing, digestive health, natural approaches to the treatment of mood disorders and has a special interest in the role that environmental toxin exposure plays in the expression of complex chronic disease such as auto-immune, chronic fatigue and Lyme. Her areas of expertise include: clinical nutrition and detoxification, botanicals, intravenous nutrient therapy, women’s medicine, environmental medicine, and homeopathy. She is also one of the few ND’s on the Central Coast to offer an alternative treatment for cervical dysplasia and HPV infection, called cervical escharotic treatment. Dr. Valencia draws from a wide range of clinical experience in medical facilities serving diverse populations, including pain management clinics, substance abuse facilities and women’s shelters. It was here, treating some of the most under-served populations, that she witnessed some of the most profound improvements using naturopathic therapies. Above all, Dr. V, as her patients call her, sees healing as a partnership between the patient and her, and strives to honor the unique make-up of each person that walks into her office with her treatment protocols. She is a firm believer in treating people first and diseases second. Prior to her life in Santa Cruz, Dr. Valencia earned her BA from Barnard College, Columbia University in New York City and her medical degree from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona. In addition to her formal medical training, she is a certified Holistic Health Counselor from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, a level II Reiki practitioner and Thai Yoga Massage Therapy practitioner. In her free time, Dr. Irene can be found cooking up natural beauty products in her kitchen, logging hours on the mat for her yoga teacher training or seeking adventure around the world. Dr. Sarah Holloway is an integrative medicine practitioner who offers a unique blend of naturopathic, Western, and Chinese medicine. Dr. Holloway’s love of nature combined with a fierce scientific curiosity and passion for positively impacting those around her drove her to seek a style of medical practice that respects the innate healing wisdom of the body while also honoring the rigor of the scientific method. Her unique background in science and research, as well as more “alternative” medical philosophies allows Dr. Holloway to keep one foot firmly rooted in both of these worlds. Dr. Holloway’s patients appreciate her genuine interest in their well-being. Her unassuming but professional manner leaves patients with a sense of confidence and ease. Her dedication to providing unbiased, non-judgemental, top-quality integrative healthcare is evident. Before arriving at National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR to pursue her doctoral degree in naturopathic medicine, Dr. Holloway studied Psychology and Biology at the University of Texas in Austin, where she completed her pre-medical coursework, graduating summa cum laude. After graduation from UT, Dr. Holloway spent several years traveling the world and working as a research scientist at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama. Dr. Holloway lives with her family in Felton, CA. She enjoys exploring the Redwoods at Henry Cowell park, where she volunteers as a docent, and soaking up the sun between classes at Five Branches University where she will complete her master of Oriental medicine degree in late 2016. She is a member of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association, The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and the Oregon Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
