My fitness journey started in 2018 when I was 20 years old and in college. I was involved in high school sports but had always been overweight and constantly struggled to try and lose weight. When I started college, I ended up gaining over 50lbs which led me to my highest weight of 250lbs, mainly due to not being active and living an unhealthy lifestyle. I was struggling with depression and anxiety and was on a downward spiral I felt I had no control over. It took me realizing that I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life being unhappy and hating the person I saw in the mirror to take control of my life and make the changes that needed to happen. Over the last 2.5 years, I have managed to lose 85lbs through weight-training, nutrition, a whole lot of determination, and patience, and have fallen in love with everything fitness. It has been as much a physical journey as it has been a mental health journey. My personal experience sparked my passion to help others who may be struggling with things similar to what I have struggled with and guide them to living a happier and healthier lifestyle.

Focus: weight loss, muscular development, and confidence

I'm a college student with a passion for exercise. I started out at the YMCA as a member attending group fitness classes with my dad. That slowly changed my perspective on exercise, it became a place I went for not only my physical health, but also my mental health. After a few years of focusing on group fitness, I took my first steps into the weight room. I was automatically hooked. Learning to lift has taught me so many things about myself and given me some of the most important friendships in my life. Lifting isn't all about physical strength, but mental fortitude as well. I love to challenge myself and have done so by training and participating in multiple lifting competitions. I also became a group fitness instructor and have been teaching Total Body Conditioning for over a year. Recently, I took the step to become a wellness coach so I can share my passion of fitness with more people. Fitness is for everyone, and it comes in many forms. All it takes is to find something that you enjoy

My name is Lisa Russell and a long time member and instructor for the Armbrust YMCA. I’m married with 3 amazing kids and a grandma of an adorable 21 month old. I have been a group fitness instructor for 18 years, teaching a wide variety of class formats along the way. I recently obtained my personal training and nutrition coach certifications and am excited to work with people who want that extra motivation and encouragement to be a healthier version of themselves. Working out and creating healthy habits are passions of mine and I would love to walk with you on that journey!

I’m from Argentina and trained as a personal trainer, a profession that allows me to combine two of my greatest passions: movement and well‑being. I’ve been working with the body for more than 15 years, developing a holistic approach to physical activity and healthy living.
I love spending time outdoors, especially in parks and open spaces, where I feel energized and connected to my surroundings. I consider myself an enthusiastic, sociable, and pleasant person, always ready to support and motivate those who train with me. One of the things I enjoy most about my work is accompanying people on their journey and helping them achieve their goals. I’m committed to creating a positive, encouraging environment where each person feels seen, supported, and capable of growing at their own pace. Responsibility and teamwork are values that guide the way I work and connect with others.
