Classes

Pickleball 101 - Intro to Pickleball Class - 1.5 Hours (Public Group Class) - $45 per person
This 1.5 hour intro to Pickleball class is a public group class with others. It's Outdoors at the Austin Tennis and Pickleball Center (one of the original places to play Pickleball in Austin).

The class is meant for new players looking to learn this exciting game. We will get you playing points while learning how to score (most of the class is playing and learning while you play). This class is NOT for people that have played more than 5 times and are comfortable with the rules and scoring. Please only sign up if you are completely new or have played a handful of times and want to learn the rules/scoring better.

Pickleball is most widely played in the doubles format (2 on 2). So we will focus on learning the scoring, rules and basic positioning/strategy for doubles. I will have plenty of my paddles for you to demo at class and for sale as well. Students get $20 discount. (You can see them here on my online store: https://calvin-keeney.myshopify.com/ )

What to bring?

A good pair of court shoes are helpful (tennis or pickleball court shoes are best). A water bottle is also helpful and a paddle if you already have one (feel free to try out mine as well.)

Can I retake the class?

Yes you may retake the class if you want to become more comfortable before playing in a social setting.

Feel free to reach out to me at calvin@calvinkeeney.com for any other questions. I look forward to seeing you on the court!
Pickleball 102 - How to Hit the Pickleball Class - 1.5 Hours (Public Group Class) - $60 per person
This 1.5 hour hitting the Pickleball class assumes that you know the basic rules and scoring of Pickleball. If you don't, then sign up for my "Intro to Pickleball Class" instead. This class is a public group class meaning you will likely have others in the class too.

Location is outdoors at the Austin Tennis and Pickleball Center on Johnny Morris Road.

I keep this class limited to a lower number of players (usually 5 players is max for this class compared to 8 players max in my larger classes). I keep this class lower so I can give more individual attention to each player given it's focus on technique.

If your goal when playing Pickleball is "to get the ball over the net". Then this is the class for you. I will give you advice for footwork, grip, technique and ready position to help you hit the ball more consistently. (This is NOT a class for 3.0 and above players. This is for players whose goal is to simply hit the ball.)

IMPORTANT: Class Pre Requisites

You know how to keep score and the basic rules of Pickleball.

Demo Paddles Available to Test During Class

I will have plenty of my paddles for you to demo/use at class as well. Students get $20 discount (You can see the Brute here on my online store: https://calvin-keeney.myshopify.com/ )

Can I retake the class?

Yes you may retake the class if you want to become more comfortable with the class material. This class is my most repeated class because we learn a lot of tips in the class. And it's normal for muscle memory to take awhile when learning something complex such as hitting a ball with a paddle :)

3.0+ Competitive Players - 1.5 Hour Public Group Drilling Session - $20 per person
This is a 1.5 hour public group drilling session for competitive players that are either 3.0+ rated and/or if you play tournaments at a 3.0+ level.

If your goal(s) in Pickleball is:
- To rank up your DUPR rating
- To play at a higher level
- To hone your skills
- To meet other competitive players that might be interested to drill outside of this.

Then this is the drilling session for you.

This session IS NOT for casual players that struggle getting the ball over the net.

How this drilling session works:

-We will be hitting A LOT of balls during this 1.5 hour drilling session. I will bring many balls and hoppers for us to all use
- This is a public group session so you can sign up by yourself or with others but know that others not in your group may be in this session with you
- My role as a coach for this drilling session is to help facilitate the drills by offering popular drills to try out. I will also give some feedback on how to do the drills more effectively. Occassionally I will give techinical help though please remember this session is for lots of reps. This is not a private lesson so I will not be able to spend a lot of time helping any individuals stroke for long periods of time.

Bring your own paddle and water bottle. If you need a paddle, let me know in the comments so I can make sure to bring one for you.

Pickleball 201 - Dealing with a Banger - $45 per person
This 1.5 hour Pickleball class is a public group class with others. It's Outdoors at the Austin Tennis and Pickleball Center (one of the original places to play Pickleball in Austin).

We will be practicing how to play with and against a banger in this class.

"Banger" = someone that loves to hit the ball hard almost every shot.

This class is intended for 3.0-3.5 level players. If you are below 3.0 or new to the game, try some of my Pickleball 100 series classes instead.

Areas of improvement against a banger you can expect in this class:
- Gaining confidence at the kitchen
- Identifying when a banger is too out of control and their balls are flying out.
- Positioning better
- Making it more difficult for the banger to hit a fast drive.
