She has been shooting for Greenehouse NYC for almost two years now, directly studying interior photography from Melanie Greene. After taking a few months off to travel to Belgrade, Serbia, she is back to NYC for the 2023 season. While she was in Belgrade, she was assistant producing and photographing feature films with a new studio focusing on women in film. She is happy to be back in NYC to serve her portrait clients, as well as still working within the film industry. Aside from running around with a tripod on the subway, Emily is also a lover of theater and NYC food exploring!

After juggling a rigorous career in Facilities Management for various fashion and tech companies and shooting part-time for 10 years, I finally took the leap to the full time freelance world in November of 2021 and haven’t looked back since! The Catch by Elyse was founded by me in 2018 and is now based in the Bronx, NY. The name originates from my idea that spectacular images are mostly “captured” or “caught” in spontaneity and naturalism...in those moments that we least expect. “The real beauty is captured in between poses.” I offer a variety of freelance photography services including: Lifestyle, Real Estate/Interior Design, Editorial, E-commerce, Product, Portraits, Food and Events.
Lauren is a freelance photographer based in NYC who shoots a variety of assignments, including architectural/interiors, events, portraits, editorial, and documentary/street. Regardless of the type of assignment, the goal is always the same—to determine how to tell the right story, to bring out the best in the subject. In addition, Lauren teaches photography to high school students from underserved communities at the NYC SALT program and serve as an instructor for the Leica Akademie. Prior to becoming a full-time photographer, Lauren spent 16 years practicing law. The same skills that were invaluable as an attorney—the ability to problem solve, and to see something from multiple perspectives—have been indispensable to her career as a photographer. Lauren is attracted to ideas and stories that display our commonalities as people, believing that as human beings, we are much more alike than we are different. Lauren's photography has been exhibited in local and international venues including: the Half King, New York City, "The Fence" at Photoville, New York City, and ten other U.S. cities; the Bronx Documentary Center; the Museum of the City of New York; HeadOn Photo Festival, Sydney, Australia; PhotoLeiden, The Netherlands; Umbrella Arts Gallery, New York City; The Center For Fine Art Photography, Ft. Collins, CO; Arsenal Gallery, Central Park, NYC; and the HistoryMiami Museum. Lauren's work and interviews have appeared in various publications, including: the New York Times, La Repubblica, Adore Noir magazine, the New York Law Journal, CBS News, Slate Magazine, Rangefinder Magazine, the Phoblographer, Street Photography Magazine, the Candid Frame podcast, the documentary film "Fill the Frame," Stay at Home with Leica, and various street photography books, including the Women Street Photographers book (Prestel).
