Learn the most exquisite songs from the Billy Strayhorn songbook. This class will not only concentrate on his compositions, but the background of his compositions such as his song structures, harmonic and melodic concepts and lyric content. Songs will include: Lush Life, A Flower is a Lovesome Thing, Passion Flower, Maybe, Daydream, Lotus Blossom and many more. This will be a 2 day weekend intensive.

Cy Coleman was a celebrated American composer, pianist, and jazz musician whose versatile talents shaped Broadway for decades. His distinctive jazz-influenced style produced Broadway classics including "Sweet Charity", "City of Angels", and "The Will Rogers Follies," earning him multiple Tony Awards. He collaborated with lyricists, Dorothy Fields, Carolyn Leigh and Alan and Marilyn Bergman
This class will not only concentrate on his compositions, but the background of his compositions such as song structures, harmonic and melodic concepts, lyric content and how the song was used in the show it was from. Songs will include: The Best is Yet to Come, Witchcraft, It Amazes Me, With Every Breath I Take, You Fascinate Me So and many more. This will be a 2 day weekend intensive.

In this intensive, we will study and sing a group of tunes that sometimes get overlooked, or just not quite as popular! However, they are great songs and should be considered to be part of the Great American Songbook. We will study several songs by Arthur Schwartz and Howard Deitz ("You and the Night and the Music", By Myself" "Alone Together", "Haunted Heart", "I See Your Face Before Me"), and others such as "Here's to Life", "I Hear a Rhapsody", "For All We Know", "Time after Time" just to name a few. Here is the schedule for the 2 days:

Ivan Lins is a Grammy winning Brazilian musician and composer who is known for numerous recordings of his work worldwide. He has a beautiful sense of harmony, melody and lyric. His songs have been recorded by artists such as Sarah Vaughn, Quincy Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, George Benson, Take 6 and Sting...just to name a few! He also has worked with other songwriters such as Alan and Marilyn Bergman and Paul William who wrote gorgeous English lyrics to a few of his songs.
Here are a few of his songs: "You Moved Me to This", "The Island", "Love Dance", and "Nightmood".
