- Brazilian Classics (2 day Intensive) - $350
- A wonderful collection of great Brazilian standard songs by various artists. Since we teach a stand alone class of the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim, this class will include some of the other iconic composers: such as Sergio Mendes, Djvan, Dori Caymmi, Milton Nascimento, Edu Lobo, and many more. Super fun and energetic class with a live trio.
- The Music of Harold Arlen (February 21st and 22nd) - $350
- Join us to learn some of the greatest tunes from the Harold Arlen catalog. He was the first composer to introduce the blues to Broadway! We will explore over 25 of his greatest masterpieces. This is a super fun class supported by a live jazz trio!
- The Music of Bill Evans (March 28) - $175
- Not only was Bill Evans an iconic jazz pianist, but he was also an amazing songwriter! We are going to work thru 8 to 10 of his most famous compositions that a lyric was put to his music later on. We will talk about his writing style, his improvisational ideas and how to approach these complex songs as a vocalist. The class will be supported by a live trio.
- Songs You Thought You Knew (April 11 and 12) - $350
- Every song has several accepted performance possibilities. Sometimes due to different lead sheets, sometimes due to artist interpretations. In this class, we will explore those different possibilities for several tunes and discuss how to analyze those versions so you, as a performing artist, can refine your approach to standard repertoire. You will learn how to define the composer's intent and use various versions to fashion your approach to the song. We will have some tunes preselected for study and students will be asked to bring in tunes that they would like to research on the 2nd day of class. Tuition includes a copy of the book "Songs You Thought You Knew".
- The Music of Henry Mancini (May 16 and 17) - $350
- Henry Mancini's beautiful compositions have spanned over many decades. With writing with Johnny Mercer to TV and movie soundtracks, his music has joined the Great American Songbook. Join us for a weekend to learn his most famous compositions along with a live trio.
