I am a body-positive, weight-neutral massage therapist working especially with queer and trans clients; disabled and chronically ill people; survivors of trauma; and anyone pushed to the margins of institutionalized healthcare. I work to support your nervous system by moving slowly and specifically, at your body's own pace. Through a pain-free neuro/myofascial approach, I focus on injury treatment; chronic pain support; nerve conditions; headaches and migraines; EDS and hypermobility; fibromyalgia; whiplash; and more. Info about my private practice can be found at www.thirdpointmassage.com.
I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2009. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, connected, and at ease in your body. I am particularly interested in the ways the trauma - both personal and collective - impact the body and see bodywork as an essential part of the healing process. I have been a volunteer massage therapist with Daryel, a wellness clinic serving women survivors of the civil war in Somalia for over ten years. I also worked as a research interventionist on a study of Mindful Awareness in Body-Oriented Therapy (MABT) for people receiving medication treatment for opioid use disorder. The intervention incorporated massage and mindfulness skills to help people with trauma histories increase their body awareness and emotional regulation.
