I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2009. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, connected, and at ease in your body. I am particularly interested in the ways the trauma - both personal and collective - impact the body and see bodywork as an essential part of the healing process. I have been a volunteer massage therapist with Daryel, a wellness clinic serving women survivors of the civil war in Somalia for over ten years. I also worked as a research interventionist on a study of Mindful Awareness in Body-Oriented Therapy (MABT) for people receiving medication treatment for opioid use disorder. The intervention incorporated massage and mindfulness skills to help people with trauma histories increase their body awareness and emotional regulation.
